Mount Kilimanjaro

SHIRA OR LEMOSHO ROUTE

The route is also known as the Whiskey route, given its reputation for being a tough climb, in contrast to the easier Marangu route, which is known as the Coca Cola route. Unlike the gradual incline and hut accommodations found on the Marangu Route, the climbers on Machame hike steeper trails, for longer distances, while sleeping in tents.

Our driver will take you to Momella Gate (1,500) and passing the open grassland through montane
forest. Ascend to Mariakamba Hut (2,514m) situated in a idlyllic grassy glade to enjoy the last of the
afternoon sun and beautiful view (4 -6) hrs walking

After breakfast walk from Mariakama Hut to the saddle below Little Meru to reach the halfway point of
Elephant Ridge with excellent views of the summit ridge and cross most of the crates floor. The path
continues uphill to Saddle Hut (3,570m). Approximately (3 – 5) hrs walking.

An early start at around 2 a.m to Rhino Point (3,800m) and the continue to reach Cobra Point (4,350m)
around sunrise. The Summit of Socialist Peak (4, 566m) is an hour more on a superb but often steep
path. Descend back to Rhino Point to Saddle Hut then continue the descend to Momella gate. Drive back
to your chosen hotel. End of Service.
