Machame Route

The Machame route is also known as the Whiskey route, given its reputation for being a tough climb, in contrast to the easier Marangu route, which is known as the Coca Cola route. Unlike the gradual incline and hut accommodations found on the Marangu Route, the climbers on Machame hike steeper trails, for longer distances, while sleeping in tents.

Arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport. Meet and greet by Roika Tours and transfer to Moshi town briefing and overnight at leopard hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel drive to Kilimanjaro national park gate passing through the village of machame on the lower slopes of the mountain. Make sure that you have all your park items with you as the porters travel very quickly. The guide will be pleased to assist with any additional information. Leave the Machame hut at the altitude of 3100m. dinner and overnight at the hut.

 

Breakfast at the hut, leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path crossing the little valley waling a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather, until the ridge ends. Turn west on a river gorge at 3658m. dinner and overnight at Shira camp.

 

Breakfast at the lodge. Proceed to Serengeti National Park with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Park. Serengeti National Park, in northern Tanzania, is known for its massive annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Seeking new pasture, the herds move north from their breeding grounds in the grassy southern plains. Many cross the marshy western corridor’s crocodile-infested Grumeti River. Others veer northeast to the Lobo Hills, home to black eagles. Black rhinos inhabit the granite outcrops of the Moru Kopjes.

 

Breakfast at the camp continue to the east passing the junction towards the peak of kibo. As you continue the direction changes to south east towards the lova tower called “The Shark tooth” to the second junction who brings you to the second junction who brings you to the arrow glacier at altitude of 3860m. here you rest enjoy dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast leave Baranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Baranco wall through Karanga valley and junction, which connects with the Mweka trail. Continue to Barafu hut, which is located at an altitude of 4600m. The peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position. Dinner and overnight at Barafu hut.

 

Early breakfast continue ascend to Stella point (5745m) on your way to the summit (Uhuru peak 5745m). This is the hifhest point on mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point in Africa. Now make your descent, continuing straight down to the Mweka hut (3100m) enjoy last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep

 

Descend down to Mweka gate and transfer to a hotel in Arusha or Moshi

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure late afternoon transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport for your flight back home.
