Empakaai Crater and Lake Natron Trekking

Tour Overview

Empakaai Crater: Empakaai Crater is a relatively small, but breathtaking, caldera that measures approximately six kilometers (3.7 miles) across. It is home to a soda lake that covers about three-quarters of the crater floor, as well as a lush forest that is home to a variety of wildlife and bird species.

Lake Natron: Lake Natron is a shallow, alkaline lake located in the Rift Valley of northern Tanzania. The lake is known for its bright pink color, which is caused by the presence of cyanobacteria and other microorganisms. It is also home to a large population of flamingos, which come to the lake to feed on the algae that grow in the shallow waters.

Visitors to Lake Natron can enjoy a guided nature walk around the lake, where they can take in the stunning scenery and see the famous flamingos up close. The lake is also a popular spot for birdwatching, with more than 400 species of birds recorded in the area.
